The Latin Side of Houston” features music written in honor of Houston’s legendary musicians’ compositions reimagined in a Latin jazz setting. Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra will perform music from artists such as Billy Gibbons, The Crusaders, Joe Sample, Ronnie Laws, Norma Zenteno, Conrad Johnson, and Beyoncé. Proposed guest artists include Ronnie Laws, Bobby Lyle, and Marcie Chapa. This musical event will be well received and will serve as a reminder of the transcending work of Houston’s music legends.
The Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra features some of Houston’s best Latin jazz artists. These world-class musicians represent the rich heritage of the Latin American countries and the fusion of these cultures with the Houston lifestyle. The members of the group have won Grammys and toured with artists such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Chaka Khan, Paquito D’Rivera, Maynard Ferguson, Billy Taylor, David Sanborn, Nestor Torres, Wynton Marsalis, Arturo O’farrill, Joe Sample, The Jazz Crusaders, Idina Menzel, Ricardo Montaner, La India, Luis Enrique, to name just a few. The expected attendance for this event is 3,000.
